The true ''LRRC19'' gene sequence in human is located in the intronic region of the ''IFT74'' gene, which is flanked by ''TEK'' and ''CAAP1'' genes.

This same synteny pattern is observed in a different gene in ''Xenopus'' on chromosome 1 (X.tropicalis NCBI ID:100491155, XB-GENEPAGE-29080546). Thus this gene (XB-GENEPAGE-941063) - now re-named ''lrrc19l'' ("leucine rich repeat containing 19 like") gene in ''Xenopus''- is instead flanked by the ''tie1'' and ''mpl'' genes on one side and ''tmem125'' and ''cfap57'' genes on the other side; This region was examined in humans, and while a syntenic locus was identified, the gene in that position did not blast or align well with this ''lrrc19l'' gene in ''Xenopus'', suggesting it is not represented in humans.
